Most look so good you can also wear them for relaxing summer days outdoors, or simply for lounging round the house.
Jaimie Pyjama Bottoms and Shorts Pattern

We start with the Jaimie as it’s an ideal pyjama pattern for your first sewing project. You can make full-length pyjama bottoms or shorts, both with a low-rise elasticated waist with an optional drawstring. In a full range of sizes from 4-34, Tilly and the Buttons also offers a free step-by-step tutorial – no wonder this pyjama pattern has so many 5-star reviews!
Skill Level: Beginner
Recommended fabrics: light to medium weight woven fabrics such as cotton lawn, shirting, quilting cotton, double gauze or viscose.

Fifi Pyjamas Pattern

So, a step up from the Jaimie pyjama pattern, the Tilly & The Buttons Fifi pyjama pattern also includes a cute camisole top as well as the shorts. This one’s for advanced beginners as the camisole is cut on the bias with pleated cups, bias binding straps and a princess seam back. But don’t worry as the pattern includes instructions for sewing bias cut fabric, creating binding and finishing with French seams. If it all sounds like a lot, start with the shorts and make the cami top when you’re feeling more confident.
Skill Level: improvers and advanced beginners
Recommended fabrics: Cotton lawn as it is a lightweight cotton with a smooth silky feel.

Dressmaking Floral Cotton Lawn - Blossom Yellow
Nina Lee Piccadilly Pyjamas Pattern

The Nina Lee Piccadilly pyjamas are a beautiful summer pyjama pattern with a pretty Mandarin collar, and curved hems on the top and bottoms. There are 2 versions, with either shorts or cropped trousers, cap sleeves or ¾ length sleeves. The pyjama shorts have a flat front waistband with an elasticated back and are finished with a pretty ribbon tie.
Skill Level - Advanced Beginner
This pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner as you will need to attach bias binding to the hems, attach a collar, insert sleeves and make buttonholes. However, the results will be well worth the extra effort.
Recommended fabrics: cotton lawn or viscose
Team FG like this pattern so much, you might have been it at one of the recent shows as we have a sample set made up in Bertha; the cotton lawn worked perfectly, making these pyjamas very classy. They also provide a great opportunity to show off your sewing skills with the contrast bias binding, but if you aren’t feeling confident, you could miss out that element.

Merchant & Mills Winnie Pyjamas Pattern

A real Team FG favourite, Aimée makes these on repeat in our cotton chambray striped fabrics. This pyjama pattern is super versatile for different seasons with either long or short sleeves, and with long, short or short-short bottoms.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Suitable for an intermediate skilled sewer and feature a buttoned top with a relaxed collar.
Recommended fabrics: cotton chambray
For really classic pyjamas we can’t recommend chambray enough: it’s a lovely cotton to work with and will make really beautiful pyjamas.

Megan Nielsen Reef Camisole and Shorts Set

This camisole and shorts set sewing pattern has a relaxed fit which can be worn as summer nightwear or casual daywear. The camisole top is cut on the bias with a v neckline and a crossover yoke in the back, available in sizes 6-20. The shorts have an elasticated waist, pockets and two options – either a curved or straight hem and two rises either just below the waist or on the hip. We think they are so good, you definitely don’t need to worry if you wake up in them and find you’re still wearing them at lunchtime.

We think they would look gorgeous in this Alexander Henry Turtle Bay cotton fabric.

Matchy Matchy Ruffle Brunch Set

A Team FG favourite and for good reason: this pyjama pattern is so pretty with its matching ruffles on both the top and bottom hems. The bottoms have a long or short option, an elasticated waist and in-seam pockets. The top has relaxed puff sleeves with simple ties instead of buttons. It comes in sizes 6 - 38
Skill Level: Intermediate
Recommended fabrics include linen, cotton or viscose
We love this pattern in a gingham and the spring colours like pink, yellow and pale blue really complement the design.
